First post

OK - Here is my first official blog post. I have been thinking that if you look at the lives of the saints, and here I am specifically talking about the ones who lived after the Catholic church was somewhat settled and institutionalized, you find two interesting consistent things. These people are both obedient to Church authority and committed to helping the poor. I think nowadays people tend to gravitate towards one or the other but rarely both.

I would be interested in your comments. Is my observation wrong? Is that not a frequently recurring pattern in the saints? Do you agree that finding both in Catholics today is somewhat rare?

  2. Thanks for being the first person to hack their way through the intimidating process of commenting on my blog, Julie.

To show my appreciation I would like to pass on the same original blessing my mother sent to me on the occasion of my recent birthday. That is:

MAY WILD BEARS NOT FIND YOUR HOME,
    AND FUZZY LAMBS ADORE YOU,
MAY FLEAS IN PANIC LEAVE YOUR SOCKS,
AND COOL ICED TEA RESTORE YOU.

MAY ALL YOUR SCHEMES BE BLESSED AND GROW,
    AND FRIENDS AGREE WITH VIGOR,
MAY ALL YOUR KIDS APPLAUD YOUR NAME,
AND ALL YOUR TREES GROW BIGGER.

By the way, if you feel like writing a few sentences about what was involved with commenting people might like to know. I hope they got your credit card number (ha, ha).

    Peace
